Select the adhesive system first
Pressure-sensitive tape is applied directly, while water-activated tape requires controlled wetting. Equipment, line speed and closure objective should guide the choice.
Paper-backed carton closure specified by adhesive system, case surface, roll format and application process.
Kraft tape is not one universal product. Pressure-sensitive and water-activated systems behave differently, and carton dust, coating, recycled fibre content and temperature can all affect closure.
Pressure-sensitive tape is applied directly, while water-activated tape requires controlled wetting. Equipment, line speed and closure objective should guide the choice.
Board finish, dust, recycled fibre, print or coating can influence initial tack, wet-out and final bond. A representative carton trial may be appropriate.
Width, length, core and outside diameter must fit the hand tool or machine. A technically sound tape is of little value if it cannot run as intended.
A paper backing alone does not settle recyclability. Adhesive, reinforcement, carton system and the rules of the destination recovery stream should all be considered.
Share the carton and application method together; they are one system at the point of closure.
Describe the case, load and environment before selecting an adhesive.
State the adhesive system and any reinforcement requirement rather than requesting “kraft tape” alone.
Roll length is only one dimension. Core and outside diameter should be checked against the application equipment.
Print, cartons per pallet and destination requirements can materially change the quotation.
Availability, construction, trial requirement and minimum run are confirmed against the specific enquiry.
| Route | Application context | Important checks | Useful buyer input |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pressure-sensitive kraft tape | Direct application by hand tool or compatible machine | Initial tack, carton surface, temperature, roll unwind and holding | Current tape and representative carton |
| Water-activated paper tape | Controlled closure using a compatible dispenser | Wetting system, bond development, line speed and board surface | Dispenser model and pack process |
| Reinforced paper tape | Where added tear resistance is specified | Reinforcement pattern, cut method and recovery-stream implications | Load, handling cycle and closure pattern |
| Printed paper tape | Security messaging, handling or brand identification | Artwork, colour, print repeat, roll direction and minimum volume | Vector artwork and colour reference |

Moisture, dust, crushed cores and deformed rolls can affect application. Inner wrapping, carton strength, roll orientation and pallet protection should be agreed with the product.
CIF delivery is quoted to the named destination port with the agreed freight and insurance scope. Import clearance and onward destination costs remain outside that scope unless expressly included.
